Finding your biological comfort zone

with Bach Ho

In this webinar, participants will learn about the biological comfort zone, which is a level of intensity that the biology can easily process. The more both the coach and the client have access to their biological comfort zone, both in life and in session, the more effective coaching will be.

Following are key points that will be covered.

The biological comfort zone consists in two interrelated states:

  1. A state of orientation, which is effortless connection to the environment through the senses
  2. A state of feeling comfortable

A state of orientation is a state of effortless connection to the environment through the senses.

  • It’s a natural state that the biology wants to be in: The biology wants to map its environment, to assess for safety.
  • Many people have limited access to orientation because they are preoccupied with interior intensity (thoughts, emotions, sensations, images). Preoccupation with interior intensity indicates that one’s biology is dominated by fight-flight-freeze, as opposed to being oriented.
  • When a client is in fight-flight-freeze, it’s harder, if not impossible, for them to absorb insights and to make and follow through with sustainable action plans. Insights and action plans are more likely to stick when a client is oriented.

Workshop participants will be led through various exercises to experience orientation for themselves. They will also be shown how to facilitate the biological comfort zone in their clients. This involves helping the client to orient and to locate pleasant sensation in the body.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn about the biological comfort zone: The two interrelated states of orientation and feeling comfortable
  • Learn how the biological comfort zone promotes more effective and reliable growth in both the coach and the client
  • Experience the biological comfort zone yourself
  • Learn techniques for helping your client access their biological comfort zone
